Biography
Dr. Bahadır Şadan received his BSc in Civil Engineering (Yıldız Technical University, 2002), MSc in Earthquake Engineering (Boğaziçi University—Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, 2005), and PhD in Structural Earthquake Engineering (Politecnico di Milano, 2009). He worked with engineering firms in Türkiye and Italy from 2002 to 2013, and founded OBS Engineering Consulting Ltd. in 2013. Since 2019 he has been serving as an Assistant Professor at MEF University in Istanbul. His work focuses on the design of seismically isolated buildings, application of earthquake-engineering technologies, and the seismic design, assessment, and retrofit of existing and historic structures. He is President of the Turkish Association for Seismic Isolation (TASI/DİD) and Secretary General of the Anti-Seismic Systems International Society (ASSISi), and he chaired the 18th World Conference on Seismic Isolation, Energy Dissipation and Active Vibration Control of Structures (Antalya, 2023). He contributed to the 2018 Turkish Building Earthquake Code as a member of the committee that prepared the “Special Rules for Design of Seismically Isolated Buildings” section. Over the past 15 years he has taken design, consultancy, and peer-review roles in 35+ seismically isolated building projects.
