Biography
Dr. Onur Can Kalay received his BSc and PhD degrees from Bursa Uludag University in 2017 and 2023, respectively. In 2020, he joined the University of Central Oklahoma and worked as a Visiting Scholar for two months. Before joining MEF University, Dr. Kalay worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate for almost two years at Texas Tech University, Department of Mechanical Engineering. He published approximately 60 journal and conference papers, and participated in 7 national and international research projects, thanks to his worldwide collaborators from Turkey, the USA, Brazil, and Germany. Dr. Kalay joined the MEF University as an Assistant Professor in 2026. His research interests include, but are not limited to, experiments and numerical simulations of power transmission systems, artificial intelligence, diagnostics and prognostics, uncertainty quantification, and biomechanics. He serves as a Volunteer Instructor in artificial intelligence lectures for high school students and training for R&D companies. Dr. Kalay served as the session chair (SERAD Division) for the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE), one of the world’s largest mechanical engineering events, and actively serves as a reviewer for the prestigious journals in his field, including Mechanism and Machine Theory, Measurement, Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, and Reliability Engineering and System Safety. In 2025, Dr. Kalay was selected for the ASME IMECE Rising Stars Travel Grant, sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
