Biography

Asst. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Aydın received his B.Sc. dual degree in mechanical engineering and electrical and electronics engineering, and then M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from Koc University, Istanbul, in 2011, 2013, and 2019, respectively. His research has contributed to the literature in two parts; he developed (1) a new interaction controller, fractional order admittance controller, which offers a better compromise between transparency and stability robustness for physical Human-Robot Interaction (pHRI) systems, and (2) a multi-criteria optimization framework, which jointly optimizes the stability robustness and transparency of a closed-loop pHRI system for a given interaction controller. He was awarded the prestigious TUBITAK BIDEB fellowship for his graduate studies. Following, he continued conducting research as a postdoctoral researcher at the Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory at Koc University. In this period, he continued to work as a postdoctoral researcher in a large-scale research project investigating human-robot interaction using machine learning techniques, funded by TUBITAK 1003 program. Dr. Aydın actively serves as a reviewer in several IEEE journals. His research interests include physical human-robot interaction, haptics, robotics, control, optimization, and mechatronics as well as the applications of machine learning into human-robot interaction. Dr. Aydın has been working as an assistant professor in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at MEF University as a faculty member since October 2020.
