On September 12–13, 2024, the MEF University School of Foreign Languages (SoFL) inaugurated its "Open Training Days," a professional development initiative designed to facilitate pedagogical exchange and institutional collaboration among educators in Türkiye. Supported by the university’s senior administration, the two-day program offered a comprehensive exploration of modern instructional methodologies and academic management.
The symposium featured a rigorous schedule of workshops and seminars, including:
Flipped Learning and Digital Integration: Sessions led by Director Vladlena Tcherkachina and the MEF team addressed the practical challenges of implementing flipped learning models. These discussions provided evidence-based strategies for overcoming student resistance and optimizing digital platforms for student-centered instruction.
Curriculum and Assessment: Specialized workshops examined the "Schema" of language acquisition and the complexities of assessment, focusing on maintaining academic integrity and alignment with international standards.
Instructional Technology: Participants engaged with the latest developments in educational technology, exploring the role of Artificial Intelligence in the classroom and the effective use of Virtual Exchange and Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) to enhance global competencies.
Professional Development and Wellbeing: The program also looked inward at the teaching profession, with sessions dedicated to teacher observations, mentoring, and the importance of professional wellbeing in maintaining high educational standards.
By opening its doors to colleagues from across the region, MEF University has established a vital forum for scholarly dialogue, ensuring that innovative teaching practices are shared and refined within the broader academic community.
